The Middle East and North Africa Businesswomen's Summit
Nearly 250 dynamic businesswomen from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are joining with women executives from the United States for the 2006 MENA Businesswomen’s Summit October 29 through November 1 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The summit provides an opportunity for participants to expand their networks, discuss real-world experiences and build management and leadership skills as they take entrepreneurship in the region to a new level.
The summit, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), recognizes the leading role business executives play in stimulating economic reform and opportunity as they expand businesses, enter into international trade, and form dynamic joint ventures.
Summit participants hail from 16 countries and territories in the region. Many are graduates of the Middle East and North Africa Entrepreneur Training in the U.S. (MEET U.S.) program, a three-week intensive training and networking program which the Beyster Instiute manages through sponsorship from MEPI.
Summit speakers include successful leaders and businesswomen from the region and the U.S., including H.E. Suhair Al Ali, Jordan’s minister of Industry and International Cooperation; the Honorable Michele Sison, U.S. ambassador to the UAE; Delta Private Equity Partners CEO Patricia Cloherty; and Raja Easa Al Gurg, managing director of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, ranked number four on the Forbes list of 50 most influential women in the Arab world.
The summit will cover topics important to women entrepreneurs in presentations, workshops, panel discussions and one-on-one sessions with experts. Summit participants hail from 16 countries and territories in the MENA region and are committed to expanding economic opportunities and spurring job growth in their countries.
The summit is presented in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen’s Council and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the UAE Women’s Federation and honorary chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen’s Council. The summit is managed by the Beyster Institute at the Rady School of Management, University of California, San Diego.
