In our many years of experience with international equity compensation, we have conducted stock plan feasibility assessments and worked on the design and implementation of employee stock ownership programs for enterprises worldwide. Our clients and projects have included private companies, multinational corporations and international joint ventures in such locations as Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Australia.
Thousands of companies worldwide are using employee share ownership incentives to attract, retain and motivate their employees. Stock awards are a common feature of pay-for-performance systems and/or employee benefit programs. Shared ownership unites the interests of employees, managers and shareholders in building company value and, as owners, employees have added incentives to help improve overall company performance.
Many companies with successful employee ownership programs seek to replicate equity participation strategies in their international subsidiary companies or worldwide operations, giving employees an opportunity to benefit from the success of their company or the operations of the parent corporation. However, when developing stock compensation programs in varying countries, tax and accounting requirements and securities regulations can be quite complex and necessitate careful attention to detail that we can provide. Consideration must also be given to the cultural differences relating to employee perceptions of stock ownership in order to design plans that will be effective in different legal and cultural environments.
